Soooo, it's been a while since we updated for several reasons... First and foremost is: we moved! Basically it was several weeks of hell. I was working a lot and Cam - being the lovable, adorable, infuriating kid that he is - ran Keri ragged while she tried to pack up years of accumulation and sell the rest online. But we made it out and are now nomad-ing across the Northeast for the summer before the next big move... to Hawaii in mid-august!! We are pretty pumped about it for a wide variety of reasons - some of which I'm sure you can imagine, and none of which I'll bore you with here.
Another reason for the delay, and a kind of rude send-off from NYC, was that we had our good point and shoot camera stolen... In one of the scumbaggiest moves I've personally heard of, some 'nice' guy offered to help Keri lug Cameron and the stroller up the subway stairs and, when she turned around at the top to thank him, both he and our camera and, more heartrendingly, a LOT of photos we hadn't transferred to the computer were gone. May his parched and blackened soul rot slowly in the foulest pits of Hades.
Moving on! We spent some time up with Keri's folks, having another garage sale and piling all our junk in their basement, which they have
so graciously allowed us to share (THANKS m & d Fitchett!)! Now we are down at Keri's Grandfather's house on Candlewood Lake in CT, trying to decompress a bit and trying to do a little sleep training with Cameron (which, surprisingly, doesn't help with the whole decompression thing... hmmm).
Enough of catching up - on to the pictures! First we have a few from Keri and Cam's trip to the Central Park Zoo. C's favorites were the penguins!
| 45 minutes looking at penguins... never moved from this spot except to jump up and down happily and point at them |
| Soooo, mom was pretty much compelled to invest in this now-much-beloved little penguin toy |
Another big event was Keri's Graduation! 3 years of hard (sometimes
very hard) work culminated in this ceremony at Radio City Music Hall. So proud!
| Radio City - whoa! pretty posh! |
| Honorary degrees were given to, as befitting an art school: Ai Weiwei |
| Phillipe de Montebello |
| and Santiago Calatrava, who also gave a great commencement address! |
| Then of course, receiving a degree of the non-honorary (aka: had to actually work for) variety: Keri Powlison! |
| woohoo! |
We had a little get together with Powlisons and Fitchetts (and a few Blakemans) of all varieties afterward - most pictures of which are residing in the pocket of some contemptibly sub-human wart on a slug's nethers (with apologies to upstanding slugs).
| Little Sophie B gets a taste of the scrunchy-nosed grin |
| ...and her reaction leaves poor Cam feeling downcast. |
Thus, we packed our things and bid a somewhat (okay - mostly) fond farewell to NYC, where we were surprised to learn we'd been living for 5 years! whaaat? Time flies. We did get to meet up with a few friends before we left
| nice hat! but it lets the rain through... |
| whoa! we could have probably just left the whole thing to Cam! |
| packing up |
| K's Pratt cohorts May and Jin Jae |
| Our old PSU buddy Laura was in town too! |
| this is one of the things I think we'll miss |
On to upstate NY and Candlewood, where we discovered to our great delight (and occasionally acute apprehension) that Cameron is a total water-baby! Totally eager to fling himself into the abyss, as long as he gets doused doing it! This will work out well for Hawaii I'm thinking...
| Oh yeah - that's total glee you're seeing right there... |
| he gets pumped up even walking toward the water |
| ready for a boat ride |
| letting those tender bits dry off au naturel |
| splashing like mad- even if it gets in his eyes |
| and charging... |
| right on in! Keri's not holding him up - she's holding him back! |
Finally - here are some pics that didn't fit in categories....
| Hannah was here!! and stayed with us for a bit around K's graduation |
| Fatty's mojito's... oh how we love thee |
| he doesn't have to love punk music, but it might be better if he did! |
| or maybe Rockabilly... |
| "Hey it's Auntie Hannah! She doesn't just live in a little box called Skype after all!" |
| "you young whippersnappers have no idea...." |
| Happiest little dude! |
